Vases

These porcelain vessels convey a sense of motion. Some demonstrate the Nerikomi technique of staining and combining slabs of clay, to produce interesting and unexpected surface patterns. They were a result of wanting to incorporate more chance and randomness into my work.

The Santa Rosalia vases were inspired by the age of Covid. I went to the lives of the saints for inspiration, and discovered this Sicilian saint venerated by Palermians in times of plague. I was drawn to her as my own heritage is Sicilian.
